Practice, practice, practice. This is 10 years of hard work and constant painting, studying and practicing. Art isn't something you just pick up and learn quickly. Art isn't fun and easy. It takes a hard work, a serious desire to improve and as much skill and learning as anything else.
You might think the pictures at the beginning are still good, but they are lacking a lot of things.
1998 - I think the first one may be the first or 2nd watercolor I did. I was still doing a lot of digital for fanart. I still did in later years but I didn't include any of the rest.
2000 - I lost the middle paint and have never found it. I must have had a thing for red hair.
2001- These are all characters from my comics. The first green one I would consider my first really good fantasy art that was good enough to keep showing for years.
2002 - First two are illustration from college. All of the sudden I was forced to paint lots of pictures with backgrounds and full figures for my project.
2003 - Started sticking with inked drawings and hot press watercolor paper here.
2004 - More detail....
2005 - I made an effort this year to draw entire figures that fit in the picture without feet being cut off etc. Started using more photo reference.
2006 - Can't think of anything notable. Maybe less fairy wings...nah
2007 - At this point I am usually spending 80% of my time on backgrounds than the people in the picture.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
